Disneyland - January 2009

"How I Spent My Birthday" by Mommy. Well, I catered to Jacob. That's what we do as moms, right? This year my birthday fell on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and Jacob's school was closed. Knowing full well that Jacob is difficult when he is unhappy and unstimulated, I thought the best way to spend my birthday would be doing something that Jacob enjoyed too. Otherwise, we'd all be miserable. (This is a phase, right? It passes? I'll get my birthday back? HAHA!! Never, right?) Soooooo .... we went to Disneyland.

Since it was my birthday, I had the very nice people at Disneyland set us up with VIP seats for the parades & fireworks. We started off our day at the Pixar Play Parade at California Adventure. I thought Jacob would really like this. He loves all of the Pixar movie characters, and if they're in a parade, they'll keep their distance. (He's totally freaked out by the characters. They're great ... as long as they stay away!)

As you can see, he's starting to get nervous. The parade was SUPER LOUD, and that kind of unnerved him:

There's Sully, keeping his distance:

Not far enough, apparently:

We went on a few rides at CA Adventure, and then headed over to Disneyland. Here's Jacob taking a "spin" in Mickey's Toon Car. That was cool. No Mickey. ha.

All of us on Jacob's favorite ride - Dumbo:

His other favorite ride - the carousel:

Day 2: This is at CA Adventure

Wearing his 3D glasses, in preparation for the new Toy Story ride. (Way cool ride, BTW.)

Posing with his friends, Mater & Lightning McQueen. He DID like that!

Messing around waiting for the train. Notice my super-sweet birthday sticker. Which is totally mangled because Jacob wanted to wear it. LOL.

It was an exhausting 2 days, but it was fun to stay overnight at the Grand California Hotel. It was really nice, and fun to have a view of the CA Adventure Park. The only real downside was Jacob totally freaking out at the Chip & Dale Breakfast at the hotel. Jason & I had to take turns standing with him outside & he refused to eat his breakfast. Actually, he refused to come back inside the restaurant.
