Guitar Hero

Jacob actually got this guitar for Christmas last year, but he didn't really know how to treat it. He whacked it around & stood on it, so it was put away in his closet for a while. He still loves music, and is very interested in "playing" guitar, so we got it out again. He's still a bit rough, but at least he's not standing on it anymore!

Tuning it:

Shredding already. Gotta love it!

Disneyland - January 2009

"How I Spent My Birthday" by Mommy. Well, I catered to Jacob. That's what we do as moms, right? This year my birthday fell on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and Jacob's school was closed. Knowing full well that Jacob is difficult when he is unhappy and unstimulated, I thought the best way to spend my birthday would be doing something that Jacob enjoyed too. Otherwise, we'd all be miserable. (This is a phase, right? It passes? I'll get my birthday back? HAHA!! Never, right?) Soooooo .... we went to Disneyland.

Since it was my birthday, I had the very nice people at Disneyland set us up with VIP seats for the parades & fireworks. We started off our day at the Pixar Play Parade at California Adventure. I thought Jacob would really like this. He loves all of the Pixar movie characters, and if they're in a parade, they'll keep their distance. (He's totally freaked out by the characters. They're great ... as long as they stay away!)

As you can see, he's starting to get nervous. The parade was SUPER LOUD, and that kind of unnerved him:

There's Sully, keeping his distance:

Not far enough, apparently:

We went on a few rides at CA Adventure, and then headed over to Disneyland. Here's Jacob taking a "spin" in Mickey's Toon Car. That was cool. No Mickey. ha.

All of us on Jacob's favorite ride - Dumbo:

His other favorite ride - the carousel:

Day 2: This is at CA Adventure

Wearing his 3D glasses, in preparation for the new Toy Story ride. (Way cool ride, BTW.)

Posing with his friends, Mater & Lightning McQueen. He DID like that!

Messing around waiting for the train. Notice my super-sweet birthday sticker. Which is totally mangled because Jacob wanted to wear it. LOL.

It was an exhausting 2 days, but it was fun to stay overnight at the Grand California Hotel. It was really nice, and fun to have a view of the CA Adventure Park. The only real downside was Jacob totally freaking out at the Chip & Dale Breakfast at the hotel. Jason & I had to take turns standing with him outside & he refused to eat his breakfast. Actually, he refused to come back inside the restaurant.

My Birthday

Ok, first off, I got a TON of really awesome gifts for my birthday. It was fantastic! Plus I got to celebrate with my family in San Diego, then Jason, Jacob & I stayed over night at Disneyland the night before my actual birthday. We all had a blast at both parties. Talk about feeling blessed.

After having so much fun opening presents on Christmas, Jacob was ready and willing to help me open my birthday presents:

He likes the gift topper, I like the green sweater ;)

Peeking into another gift (my favorite hair products & a new Kiehl's face product which I really, really like!)

This picture cracks me up. He looks as excited as me about the wine. Maybe he knows it's "Mommy's Little Helper." HAHA. kidding ...... sort of.

Excited to open another gift (an SDSU sweatshirt - yes!!)

Here we are admiring my new train cake pan. Actually, Jacob thought this was HIS gift since it was trains. He calls it his "Casey Jr." cupcake pan. He's been asking me for Casey Jr. cupcakes ever since. I should get on that ...

Happy Birthday Mommy!!

Thomas - A Boy Obsessed

This boy is OBSESSED with Thomas. He LOVES playing with the trains. We ended up leaving the train table at my parents' house. Randy is going to enclose it for us (storage space underneath) and finish the underside of the Island of Sodor playboard, so we can flip it over and have it look like a normal coffee table every once in a while. I'm really starting to forget what that's like! Ours is always covered with toys.

In the meantime, Jacob has this Island of Sodor playmat that he builds his track on. On our living room floor ... naturally. He's not happy when the cleaners come & we have to put it away. (For a few hours!)

Playing at the Park

Being a typical boy, Jacob loves to play outside & run around. His pre-school was closed the week between Christmas & New Year's, so we went to the park quite a bit. And it was really nice weather here. We both had sweaters on, but both got too warm and have to remove layers.

But, for as much fun as we have, he usually doesn't like leaving :( Every so often, a meltdown ensues. Today was one of those days. (No pictures of that ... though maybe I should start taking some. Hmmmm.) I ended up carrying him AND his tricycle home. I was the exhausted one!!

Oh ... the sweater is off. Must be getting warm.
