I freakin' LOVE coloring!

Jacob is a big time fan of coloring. He likes doing any kind of art, actually. He enjoys painting, glueing, cutting, paper shredding, and especially enjoys stickering. Thankfully he only sticks stickers on paper & himself currently.

He calls this activity "color paper!" "I color paper," he says. And he always announces whatever he colors. This comes in handy when he colors freestyle on plain paper ;) . He's getting pretty good at coloring circles and he knows all of his colors. Our art time goes like this, "I color blue circle!" "I color purple circle!" "Mommy color purple circle?" "I color dinosaur!"

Here were using coloring books. I see Jacob is using an actual crayon & not the Color Wonder markers that only work on Color Wonder paper (not on the carpet, furniture, my face, head, clothing, etc.) The crayons did NOT make it past this coloring session. They are back in their hiding place as Jacob decided to color on his chair & Lego bucket too. The last time the crayons went on hiatus, he wouldn't stop coloring the carpet & colored his face. When does this phase end?!?

Jacob coloring in his Nemo book. He's coloring Gil, who is his favorite fish to color at the moment.

He's happily coloring in his own book, but he usually notices that I'm content in coloring in a different book and tries to snatch that away. We're still working on sharing ...

I was trying to snap a picture of him with his tongue out. When he's focused & concentrating on something he sticks his tongue out and kind of folds it over his top lip. It's SO cute. I wasn't fast enough though.

At least this is one activity we all enjoy! :) Happy coloring!!!!!!!!

water table

Last month Jacob went to his cousin Eva's birthday party and she had received this water table as a gift. She, and all of the guests, Jacob included, had great fun playing with it. Lucky for me (and him!) I had already purchased the exact same one & it was sitting in our garage - so we pulled it out the next day. So, not only is Jacob now a huge fan of birthday parties (water tables! cupcakes! candy! friends!) he is also a huge fan of his very own water table.

Lots of pouring involved ...

His favorite part was splashing daddy. He had so much fun doing that. And thoroughly soaked our balcony.

I accidentally deleted the last photo. Dang!

Jason's Birthday

This year, (like last year, and probably the year before, but not the year before that!) we celebrated Jason's birthday "Jacob Style" because a happy Jacob = a happy mommy & daddy. Sad. Isn't it supposed to be a happy mommy = a happy family??? Anyway ...

No pictures, but Jason had a "dinosaur" themed birthday. Jacob selected the plates, cups, etc. at the party store. Actually he selected a construction theme first, but I kindly suggested daddy might like the dinos a bit more. (Maybe Jacob will choose a construction theme for his 3rd birthday?)

He also insisted on wearing his pajama shirt practically the whole day, as witnessed in photo #1

Playing with the Little People Airport set. One of Jacob's favorite activities. What I'm certain Jason wanted to do for his b-day.
Later we headed to the pool. (Sans pj top, thank goodness.) Both guys had a blast. Jacob went under water a few times & did great!

He loved being thrown up in the air

He wanted to go higher, but Jason was worried. And everytime he did, Jacob slipped & went underwater. He did fine though!

Later we had chocolate cupcakes - Jacob's had dinosaur sprinkles. Jason's had chocolate sprinkles. Mommy aims to please everyone ;)

4th of July 2008

We spent 4th of July at Jason's dad's house this year. Actually, I think we go there every year, but it's usually pretty fun. Jacob enjoys going to grandpa's too, especially since Aunt Heather's dog & cat live there now. He doesn't understand why the cat doesn't like to receive pets from him though. He'll crouch down looking under grandpa's bed & yell at the cat to come out. (That doesn't work.)

He had a lot of fun this year playing with his cousin Charlotte. He especially had fun dancing with her (and me). He thought it was hysterical when all 3 of us held hands and danced in a circle, Ring-Around-the-Rosie style. When he made Charlotte's hand sweaty and she wanted to stop, he was sad. :( At least there were Cheetos ....

And goofy grins ...
And strange swag from Dimples ...

Lego Maniac

I have a "Lego Maniac" on my hands! Jacob is seriously obsessed with his Duplos. At first he called it "playing blocks" but ever since he built a 'castle' (as you can see below) he calls it "playing castle." He wants to play blocks and play castle every day. And he can't play by himself. Oh, no. We have to play with him. And he's not satisfied until every last piece in both buckets is used.

Here he is posing with his very first "castle."

He loves it so much, when he woke up on Saturday morning, before he even screamed out his usual, "Mommy! Get up!!" He sort of mumbled, "Play castle." I had to laugh.
